Accessibility Services

Students with disabilities often face significant challenges. Thus, reasonable accommodations offer opportunities to succeed in classes similar to the opportunities that students free from disabilities can take for granted. A reasonable academic accommodation ensures equal access and equal opportunity to participate in 十分六合彩鈥檚 courses, services, activities, and facilities. 十分六合彩 is not obligated to provide an accommodation that requires a substantial change in the curriculum or alteration of any essential elements or functions of a program. 十分六合彩 facilities are designed to permit persons with disabilities to enroll in and benefit from education.

十分六合彩 is committed to assuring that students who enroll for admission to the College are not discriminated against and receive the accommodations required under Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as amended in the ADA Amendments Act, effective Jan. 1, 2009. This means that 十分六合彩 will engage in positive efforts to assure accommodations for students with disabilities.听 十分六合彩 will protect students鈥 privacy rights by maintaining confidentiality during this process.

Academic Accommodations

Accommodations are necessary only when a student鈥檚 disability impedes a specific academic task.听 Qualified students with disabilities are entitled to accommodations only if they have self-identified, have provided appropriate documentation and have requested accommodations.

十分六合彩 will take necessary steps to assure that no otherwise qualified student who is disabled within the meaning of the relevant laws is denied the benefits of or excluded from participation in 十分六合彩鈥檚 education programs. While accommodations may not alter the fundamental nature of the course/program in question, or impose an undue financial burden on the institution, 十分六合彩 will otherwise work with any student requiring an accommodation to meet that student鈥檚 needs.

Any otherwise qualified student seeking accommodation should request such accommodations before starting school or, if the need for the accommodation arises after enrollment, as soon as possible after discovering the need for accommodation. Accommodations should thereafter be requested on an annual or regular basis. The student should provide comprehensive and current written documentation of the disability and the need for the requested accommodation from competent independent authorities. The College may request supplemental information as necessary to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

Students needing a special accommodation should contact the Student Success Center at听studentsuccess@montcalm.edu听or call 989-328-1264 to schedule an appointment with Accessibility Services. You may also stop by the Student Success Center to schedule an appointment.
