Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

Sidney campus

Ìý

WE'RE SORRY - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

Ìý

Ethan Christensen, who has completed his Michigan Mushroom Certification and has a great enthusiasm for fungi, will teach you how to grow oyster mushrooms (all materials provided). Attendees will prepare bags of pasteurized straw and inoculate them with Ostreatus pleurotus, the oyster mushroom. Oysters are aesthetically pleasing, resistant to bacterial contamination during the colonization phase, mature to the fruiting stage relatively quickly, and- best of all- are edible and delicious! Ethan will also talk about other commonly cultivated species and cultivation methods, including log spawning and cultivating mushrooms alongside plants in vegetable gardens. When you leave, you’ll have a healthy dose of fungal knowledge and a bag or bucket that will begin producing mushrooms within a few weeks.ÌýÌý
