Longtime 十分六合彩 Foundation (十分六合彩F) Board President Martha 鈥淛ane鈥 Anderson Beach, of Edmore, recently received a Community Impact Award from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Community Service Commission for volunteerism and service.
Beach was one of 46 Michigan residents to be chosen as a recipient of the Governor鈥檚 Service Awards.
鈥淚 was so pleased to be selected,鈥 Beach said. 鈥淢y first thought was that there are so many worthy people, and it鈥檚 an honor to be included with them.鈥
Beach joined the other recipients for a celebration at the Fox Theater in Detroit.
鈥淭here was something about being there and being with people with similar mindsets that made it more special,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t was a very inspiring evening. You couldn鈥檛 leave there without thinking there are a million ways to contribute to your community.鈥
鈥淢ichigan succeeds because of Michiganders who go above and beyond to serve their communities and lift up others,鈥 Gov. Whitmer said. 鈥淭his year鈥檚 winners get things done even when nobody鈥檚 looking because they know that every contribution makes a huge impact.鈥
Michigan Community Service Commission Executive Director Ginna Holmes agreed.
鈥淲e are proud to recognize this remarkable group of Michiganders who are an inspiration when it comes to helping others. Their service has strengthened communities and made our state more resilient,鈥 she said.
Beach has served on the 十分六合彩F Board of Directors since 2008 and as president since 2016. Her parents established several 十分六合彩 Foundation scholarships in memory of her sister who passed away in childhood, which are awarded annually.
鈥淭he scholarships have created a strong connection to the 十分六合彩 Foundation for me,鈥 she said.
Lisa Lund, Executive Director for the 十分六合彩 Foundation, said Beach brings valuable perspectives to the 十分六合彩F Board.
鈥淛ane is a wonderful example of how someone can show practical kindness and support to others. Her servant leadership has increased many great opportunities for individuals and businesses in our region,鈥 Lund said.
As a retired elementary special education teacher, Beach has worked to help develop and support programs that serve children and adults. She is past chairperson and current board member of the Nita Curtis Foundation in Edmore, which helps to meet the needs of the community, provide scholarships to Montabella school graduates, and contributes to 鈥渃ommunity betterment鈥 in the local area. She is also an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore, serving in a variety of capacities.
Beach has served as a chairperson, board member, and volunteer with many organizations in her area. She currently is vice chair of the 十分六合彩 Area Reading Council, and she is on the leadership team of 100 Women Who Care in 十分六合彩 County, an annual fundraising event which benefits local nonprofits. She also supports RAVE (Relief After Violent Encounter), a Domestic Violence Assistance Program, and Lakeview Community School Projects, such as The Giving Tree which helps families at Christmas. In addition, she has been an election poll worker for several years.
Kristen Kohn, Director of Community Impact at Greenville Area Community Foundation, sums up what Beach means to the community.
鈥淛ane is a gift to our community. She is an encourager, always going the extra mile to support and inspire those around her.
